Bunbury Stage, Louisville, KY ** Call for Quilts!

QUILTERS--AN OPPORTUNITY FOR SELLING AND EXHIBITING IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY!

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS FRIDAY, JULY 31

Call for Quilts!
QUILTERS returns to the Bunbury Stage! Combining music, dance, movement and scenes of vivid dramatic intensity, the musical pays eloquent tribute to the courage and spirit of our nation's pioneer woman.

"Who would have thought that quilts, quilting, quilters had so much joy and pain, laughter and tears, so much life,
beauty and drama in them?" ---Drama-Logue. "

Whoever wrote the aforementioned review truly became enlightened! Fabulous quilts are being produced out of this rich heritage and many people have no clue about the "Neo Quilters?" and the wonderful work they create right here in our own community. Bunbury hopes to change that by presenting a stunning display in the lobby of the theatre and possibly in the lobby of The Henry Clay Building to accompany the production of Quilters from September 3rd through the 20th.

We will be looking for a variety of quilting styles and techniques: traditional and contemporary, realistic and abstract, old and new, small, medium and large, art quilts and bed quilts, for sale and not for sale. Pieces must fit the definition of a quilt. Previously shown quilts are welcome.

Up to three pieces may be submitted on CD with $10 fee payable to Bunbury Theatre. Work is insured during the run of the show.
Postmark or deliver by July 31 to address listed below.
Notifications sent: August 10th
Delivery: August 21st and 22nd to Bunbury Theatre 604 S. 3rd St.

Weavolution and Ravelry

There are web sites that are like "lists" and provide a forum for shared information.

Ravelry is for knitters--mainly...other fiber arts are included.

And, Weavolution is for weavers. It's new--only a week-old.

Take a look at these...let me know if you participate and how they help you.

Thanks!! (president@weaversguildcincinnati.org)

Natural Weaving Challenge!

I am writing as a representative of Imago, an Environmental Education
Center in Price Hill and would like to talk with you about the
possibility of partnering up on what I believe could be a very cool
project.

Here at Imago we have often thrown around possible ways to make invasive
species like Asiatic Jasmine (the vines growing all over Cincinnati) or
the honeysuckle useful. We are wondering if anyone has looked into using
these plants as weaving materials.

I am not a weaver so maybe this is impossible, but assuming it is not
unrealistic to try, we would be interested in partnering with you to
issue a challenge to regional artisans in exploring how to use the
plants in a creative way. Ultimately we would love to perhaps involve an
art museum to display the works and then perhaps also host an auction or
some sort of judging ceremony. I think this could be a great way to
educate the public about (1) local artists and (2) environmental
challenges.

Do you have any thoughts or would you be interested in speaking about
this further? If so please contact Ansa by email.

Many thanks for you time.
